Review: Aragon Hercules

This is a watch that caught my eye after seeing it on the Watch Gang Wheel of Watches. I was very interested in getting a watch with Tritium luminescence, but most of the ones on the market in the “Affordable” price bracket come with generic quartz movements, don’t look like a watch I would like to wear often (read tactical) or come with straps instead of bracelets. I always prefer to buy a watch that comes on a bracelet over a watch that doesn’t because you can usually buy a strap later if you want to, but it is not as easy to buy a bracelet that will fit on the watch. That is one of the downsides to this one - the integrated bracelet. not being able to change it for a silicone or Nato strap is a bit of a disappointment because switching the strap can give a watch that you’ve had a while a whole new look. The other downside would be the size of the watch. It wears well for me on my 7.25in wrist, but if my wrist were any smaller I don’t think it would. The diameter is 44 mm and the thickness is 16 mm. The real issue with the size for me is the thickness. Otherwise this watch is very well done. It has T-100 tritium tubes in 4 different colors around the dial and on each hand. These are very bright in complete darkness, and as the ambient light lowers, they become visible just as you would be unable to make out the markings with the ambient light. The rotating dive time bezel and signed crown is fully lumed with blue Superluminova. The crystal and bezel is K1 hardened mineral crystal; I haven’t had any issues with scratches, but I am very careful with watches that don’t have sapphire, so that isn’t much of a testament to its scratch resistance. My favorite style of watch is a diver, so this one gets quite a bit of writst time. I feel like I’m missing some functionality of a watch if I’m wearing one that doesn’t have a rotating timing bezel - I use it all the time. If you' are set on getting a watch with Tritium this is certainly not a bad way to go, but there are other watches out there that offer more value for money if you could take or leave the Tritium.
